With over a decade of experience in organizing, coordinating, and implementing recreational programs in Wilmington, NC, Marqus has made a lasting impact on the local community. He previously served as the Youth Athletic Coordinator at the MLK Center in Wilmington, where he played a key role in shaping youth sports initiatives.
Currently, Marqus serves as a New Hanover County Schools Adapted PE Teacher, where he works to provide inclusive physical education opportunities for students with diverse needs. He is also the Head Football Coach at Trask Middle School, a Competitive Flag Football Coach, and a Travel Basketball Coach, roles that allow him to mentor young athletes and help them develop both on and off the field.
A proud graduate of Catawba College, Marqus earned his Bachelor of Science in Recreation. During his collegiate football career, he was named Honorable Mention Pre-season All-American and Pre-season All-Conference. He was also part of a team that held the 2007 Sack Champion title.
While at Catawba, Marqus extended his passion for youth development by working as a youth counselor at Charlotte’s Boys & Girls Club and Salisbury’s Kid Sports. After graduating, Marqus returned to Catawba to support his alma mater as the Defensive Line Assistant Coach.
In 2017, Marqus founded PAVEDOT, a platform dedicated to helping individuals find enjoyable ways to stay active while developing valuable life skills. Through PAVEDOT, Marqus aims to create positive, impactful experiences for athletes and participants, fostering both physical and mental growth.
